Oscar Piastri’s lead at the top of the F1 world championship is now 16 points after the Aussie claimed another stunning win at the Belgian Grand Prix.

Victory was no easy feat for the McLaren driver with his teammate Lando Norris choking on the opportunity to snatch victory on three separate occasions in the dying laps.

Running wide on one occasion thew Brit lost time with was compounded by two late lock ups as he attempted to reclaim the lead.

Drivers were also forced to remain in pitlane for an hour and 20 minutes with the race delayed due to incredibly heavy rain.

“Nicely done...nicely f---ing done,” Piastri said after the race.

“It was lively, very lively,” he said.

“I knew lap one was going to be my best chance of winning the race and I got a good exit out of turn one and lifted as little as I did through Eau Rouge and then it was enough.

“The rest of the race we managed really well, was struggling a little bit there at the end. The medium wasn’t the best for the last five or six laps but we had it mostly under control which is what I wanted.

“I was pretty disappointed with myself after yesterday but turns out starting second at Spa is not so bad after all.”

The win is Piastri’s sixth of the season making him the first Australian to win that many in a single season. Norris was second and Charles Leclerc beat Max Verstappen to third.

The Red Bull star is now 81 points adrift of the McLaren’s.
