UPDATE: The AFL has cleared a leading football journalist as it looks into a potential breach of its TV rights agreement.
Rights holders Seven and Fox were last night angered by “damning new vision” of Toby Greene’s kick on Dane Rampe after it was shown on Nine’s Footy Classified.
The footage was taken from behind-the-goals vision only accessed by the AFL and normally disseminated by the league to its TV rights holders.
But Fox and Seven were blindsided when the footage ended up on the flagship footy program of their rival, Nine.
The AFL tonight admitted to a “process issue” on their end. It is unclear why the league didn’t use the vision on any of its programs on Monday.
The journalist who subsequently took the vision to Nine has been cleared of any wrongdoing, but it is clear the footage shouldn't have been used.
Seven and Fox were tonight wanting answers as to how the vision ended up on Nine.
