Despite being 28 years of age, Geelong's Shaun Mannagh has been named by the AFLCA as the best young player, having beaten out North Melbourne's Colby McKercher and West Coast's Harley Reid.
The award is based on a player's first two seasons in the AFL.
Speaking at the awards night, Mannagh also found the humour in the situation of him winning the award.
"It’s interesting, isn’t it?" he said.
"You’ll chuckle to yourself, but someone’s got to."
For the AFLCA Champion Player of the year, it is a two way tie with Gold Coast's Noah Anderson and Geelong's Bailey Smith being awarded the trophy.
