The Western Bulldogs are making a play for St Kilda defender Callum Wilkie.

Channel 9 journalist and SEN regular Tom Morris is reporting that the Dogs will table an offer in excess of $4 million for the 29-year-old.

“The Western Bulldogs offer for Cal Wilkie is more than $1 million per year across four years. Just less than $4.5 million all up,” Morris posted.

“Wilkie has two years remaining on his deal at the Saints and is seen as a future captain, but it won't stop the Dogs from having a crack.”

Wilkie, an All-Australian in 2023, is contracted with the Saints until the end of 2027.

The vice-captain won the Trevor Barker Medal last year and is regarded as one of the Saints’ most important players.

The push from the Bulldogs comes with the Saints re-signing Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera to a huge new two-year deal as well as luring free agents Tom De Koning and Jack Silvagni from Carlton with significant financial offers.
