FLEMINGTON - Race 6, No.4 - ARKANSAW KID - Loomed to win fresh but peaked with 60kg then worked mid race 2nd-up and good again. Beat Skybird this race last year. Well-weighted here. Gate 2?

BEST VALUE BET OF THE DAY

ROSEHILL - Race 8, No.6 - SKYHOOK - Terrific return win with 60kg running time beating Grand Prairie (giving 7kg to him) and he then won G3. Easy Pago Pago win this track/trip as 2yo then was in betting in Slipper but just OK (end of prep?). The $9 here looks way overs (since turned in to $6).

Group 1 analysis

Flemington: Race 8 - G1 Makybe Diva Stakes - WFA - 1600m

5 - VIA SISTINA - Well, I thought she might be vulnerable fresh on very wet (she was beaten in this race last year when 2nd-up, they blamed the Heavy-9 track) but, she was too classy. Won 1600m 2nd-up last prep beating Fangirl.

3 - ANTINO - Good return him when wide a long way from home in fast-run race and held his ground very well. He improved out of sight 2nd-up last prep and flies when 2nd-up as a rule… (do they take off early here in slowly run race?)… might be the value danger runner!!??

6 - AELIANA - Great return making Via really work to beat her. Wants all of 1600m. Stuck to task well 2nd-up last prep when 2.3L off Linebacker & Broadsiding but certainly less dynamic than when 1st-up. Brilliant Carbine Club win here in Spring as 3yo.

1 - MR BRIGHTSIDE - Typically brave run fresh in Memsie when up on a fierce speed yet beat all-bar super-impressive winner. Won this last year beating Pride Of Jenni and Via. Looks only leader!! Hmmm.

2 - TOM KITTEN - Resumes. Late scratch in Memsie. Been trialling super and has beaten Mr Brightside at 1600m. Can he give away match fitness to these and win.. Hmmm???
