Melbourne defender Judd McVee has handed in a trade request, seeking a move to his home state of WA.
The 22-year-old has been rumoured to be interested in a move back home over the course of the season and has now officially made the call, requesting to join the Fremantle Dockers ahead of the 2026 season.
Having locked up a spot in the Demons’ starting defence, McVee endured an injury interrupted start to 2025, missing until Round 7 before returning to play 17 games.
SEN's David King believes McVee is a “good get” for the Dockers should the move materialise.
“That’s a good get for Freo I reckon,” King said on SEN’s Fireball.
“He’s a sneaky good player. I think he can do some things, he might get some different opportunities over there.
“Maybe a bit more midfield time.”
Kane Cornes asked: “So they’ll be your premiership pick at the start of the year again?”
King replied: “My word. Have you seen their list?”
The East Perth product has played 65 games for the club since being selected with the 18th pick in the 2021 Rookie Draft, and will now seek a move closer to his hometown.
The Demons have expressed their desire to keep McVee, with a deal in front of the out-of-contract defender.
