The second night of the 2025 AFL National Draft has wrapped up!
Night one of the draft saw the dreams of 25 young men come true, including those of Willem Duursma who was taken by West Coast with Pick 1.
Gold Coast Academy star Zeke Uwland went to the Suns at Pick 2 while father-son prospect Harry Dean joined Carlton at Pick 3.
North Melbourne kicked off night two with Blake Thredgold, while the Bulldogs wrapped up the draft with yet another Darcy.

A midfield/wingman, Roberts-Thomson offers great dynamic in and around the ball for Richmond, getting forward to play a variety of roles.

Pick 53: Essendon match bid on Hussien El Achkar
A Bachar Houli Academy talent heads to the Bombers, with Essendon matching Richmond's bid at Pick 53!
An Izak Rankine-type player, El Achkar is a lively small forward with great goal sense at just 171cm tall.

Pick 52: St Kilda match bid on Kye Fincher
Sandringham midfield talent Kye Fincher heads to the Saints, with the club matching Richmond's bid at Pick 52!
Part of the Saints' Next Gen Academy, Fincher is a reliable midfielder, great with ball-in-hand.

A 197cm key forward, Ludowyke was ranked as one of the best key talents in the draft, with injuries impacting his draft year.
A steal of a selection at 50, the Crows add further talent to their tall forward mix.

Pick 49: Sydney match bid for Max King
The Swans have picked up on Adelaide's bid for Max King with Pick 49!
An elite mark of the footy, the key forward has immense upside, slipping from a first round talent after a late injury.
Another Academy prospect off the board, Adelaide go again with Pick 50.
Pick 48: North Melbourne select Hugo Mikunda
North Melbourne have taken quickster Hugo Mikunda with Pick 48!
A high half-forward/midfielder from the Geelong Falcons, Mikunda's elite workrate and creativity will have him right in the mix at the Kangaroos.

Pick 47: Carlton match bid for Jack Ison
It took a lot longer than expected, but Jack Ison finally lands at the Blues with Pick 47!
Touted as a late first rounder, Carlton's Next Generation talent Ison is a top midfield talent, rolling through the forward half with an elite left boot.
At 190cm, Ison is a great get for the Blues, particularly at Pick 47.
Bid matched, North Melbourne will go again with Pick 48.
Pick 46: Gold Coast match bid on Koby Coulson
The Suns have matched the Roos' bid, selecting midfielder Koby Coulson from the Suns Academy!
An U18 All-Australian, Coulson can play both midfield and forward, basing his game on now-teammate Matt Rowell!
North Melbourne back on the board with 47.
Pick 45: Carlton select Talor Byrne
The Blues have got themselves a small forward, selecting Talor Byrne from the GWV Rebels!
A great ball winner and huge goal threat, the 174cm small forward booted five goals in a clash against Vic Metro.
Great get for the Blues, North Melbourne up next.
Pick 44: Brisbane select Tai Hayes
The nephew of Lenny Hayes, Brisbane have selected Tai Hayes out of the VFL with Pick 44!
A tall wingman, Hayes will take time to develop due to injuries over this season.

Pick 43: Brisbane select Cody Curtin
Another WA boy off the board, Cody Curtin is headed to Brisbane!
The brother of Adelaide talent Dan, Cody is a terrific key position player with huge upside.

Pick 42: Sydney select Billy Cootee
A mature-aged selection, the Swans have selected Billy Cootee out of the SANFL!
The Norwood player and Victorian talent is the first unranked player to be drafted.

Pick 41: St Kilda select Charlie Banfield
A WA prospect and son of West Coast's Drew, the Eagles did not have the points to match St Kilda's bid, meaning Charlie Banfield heads to the Saints!
A strong runner out of the midfield, Banfield played some great football in the WAFL Colts, and presents as a ready-made athlete for St Kilda.

Pick 40: Fremantle select Tobyn Murray
The first VFL prospect is off the board, with Tobyn Murray headed to the Dockers with Pick 40!
One of the VFL's premier small forwards, Murray booted a goal in all of his last seven VFL games with Geelong, including a bag of five.
A ready-made pick, St Kilda are on the clock.
Pick 39: West Coast match bid for Tylah Williams
The Dockers tried to sneak in and steal a rival talent, but the Eagles have the points to match, with Tylah Williams remaining an Eagle!
A top small forward, Williams is incredibly quick and agile, lighting up the front 50. Williams can slot into the hole left by Liam Ryan.

Pick 38: Brisbane select Koby Evans
West Coast have passed on an Academy prospect, Koby Evans is headed to the premiers!
A strong midfielder, Evans missed plenty of football this season with injury, with the Eagles allowing the competitor to head to Brisbane with Pick 38.

Carlton trade Pick 38 to Brisbane
The Blues have moved out of yet another pick, sending 38 to the Lions for Pick 50 and a 2026 third round pick.

Pick 37: Collingwood select Samuel Swadling
A prolific ball-winner, Collingwood have selected a magnet in Sam Swadling!
WA's highest disposal-getter in the class, Swadling averaged 35 disposals in the WAFL Colts - he knows how to find it with ease!

The South Australian talent is a great athlete, skilful and full of confidence.

Pick 34: Hawthorn select Jack Dalton
Sandringham Dragons midfielder Jack Dalton is off the board, heading to Hawthorn with Pick 34!
A premier ball winner and natural leader, Dalton is a super selection to join the Hawks' midfield mix.

West Coast trade Pick 34 to Hawthorn
The Eagles shift Pick 34 to Hawthorn in exchange for Pick 52, a 2026 third round pick and a 2027 third round pick.

Pick 33: Geelong select Hunter Holmes
Another Holmes heads to the Cats, with Geelong selecting midfielder Hunter Holmes!
Brother of superstar Max Holmes, Hunter offers a very similar style of game to his brother, with top tier run and carry and elite speed, while also excelling on the inside.
If he develops anywhere near his brother's level, the Cats have snagged another top player with Pick 33.

Pick 32: Collingwood select Tyan Prindable
The Magpies bid on a Brisbane Academy prospect and the Lions let it slip, with Tyan Prindable heading to Collingwood with Pick 32!
A dependable midfielder, Prindable will provide a strong body on the inside for the Pies.
With the bid arriving far earlier than expected, the Lions were not prepared to match the bid.

Pick 31: Richmond select Zane Peucker
Another small forward off the board, with Richmond selecting Zane Peucker out of Woodville-West Torrens!
Yet another bolter, Collingwood up with Pick 32.
Pick 30: Melbourne select Thomas Matthews
The Dees have taken their third prospect form the 2025 crop, selecting general forward Thomas Matthews with Pick 30!
Another bolder, Matthews produces top scoreboard impact as an undersized forward, with prospects of stepping into the absence left by Charlie Spargo.

Pick 29: West Coast select Sam Allen
Another Oakleigh Charger off the board, with the Eagles selecting midfielder Sam Allen!
Likened to Ollie Dempsey, Allen is a future prospect having suffered an ACL injury during his U18's season.

Pick 28: Gold Coast select Avery Thomas
Trading up the board, the Suns have selected Avery Thomas out of Tasmania!
A bolter in the draft, Thomas is a general defender with great athleticism, marking the Suns' fifth player from this year's crop.

Carlton trade Pick 28 to Gold Coast
The Blues have traded Pick 28 to the Gold Coast Suns in exchange for a 2026 second round pick.

Pick 27: Western Bulldogs select Louis Emmett
With Pick 27, the Dogs have taken Oakleigh Chargers ruckman Louis Emmett!
Touted as one of the best ruckman in this year's crop, Emmett heads to the Bulldogs to develop under Tim English.
Capable of playing forward, the 200cm tall has huge upside.

Pick 26: North Melbourne select Blake Thredgold
With the first pick in the second round, North Melbourne have selected Blake Thredgold from SA!
A major position of need, Thredgold is a top key defender, winning best on ground in Sturt's U18 Grand Final win.
With great hands and defensive IQ, Thredgold will plug into North Melbourne's defence well once developed.

6:14pm - Who to look out for
While a majority of the top talents were snapped up during the first round, several high quality prospects remain on the board ahead of tonight's action.
One of which is South Australian key defender Blake Thredgold. At 192cm, Thredgold is an elite marking and intercept defender, and was adjudicated best on ground in Sturt's U18 Grand Final.
As reported by Cal Twomey, North Melbourne may be looking at the SA talent with the first pick of the night.
Carlton Next Gen talent Jack Ison is also set for selection in the early stages of the night.
A talented left footer from the Oakleigh Chargers, Ison was touted in and around the first round, with ready-made strength and the ability to play on and forward of the ball.
Dandenong Stingray Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves was high on several draft boards, with great forward craft and cleanliness holding the talent anywhere from early first round to second round selection.
Jevan Phillipou, brother of St Kilda's Mattaes, will also have his name called, while WA's Fred Rodriguez is also one to keep an eye on.
5:39pm - Catch up on last night's trades
In the midst of the action last night, trades were quickly swept aside as picks came in thick and fast.
So, here’s a little recap of all the moves made between clubs over the course of Round 1.
The Suns made a number of trades to accumulate as many points as possible, matching four bids across the first round.

Entering tonight, the Suns still hold Picks 48 and 49 (formerly 46 and 47) and Pick 72.
Carlton also shifted their top picks in order to afford Harry Dean at Pick 3, while Jack Ison is expecting a bid in the early stages of tonight’s action.
Hawthorn was savvy with their decision making, shifting back multiple places in order to accumulate several future picks for 2026 while still selecting two top talents in the first round.
Hawks moved up four spots, Brisbane acquired a future selection.
Hawthorn trade down their first pick (originally 10 prior to bids), shifting back two places and receiving the Giants’ future second.
Once again the Hawks shuffle down, trading away the pick received via GWS to move back one spot and taking with them the Eagles’ second round pick next year.
