SEN’s newest recruit and former Port Adelaide assistant Chad Cornes has revealed his way too early tips ahead of the 2026 AFL season.
Joining SEN SA’s Breakfast team of Mark Bickley and Jarrod Walsh from next season, Cornes has delivered his first official predictions ahead of his media debut, listing his premiership favourite, wooden spoon tip, Brownlow Medallist and young gun to watch.
See his predictions below:
Premiership tip: Brisbane
“I just can’t see anyone beating Brisbane. With the young talent they’ve got, two great additions in Draper and Allen, I reckon they go for the threepeat.”
“I just can’t see anyone beating them.”
Wooden Spoon: West Coast
“West Coast. There’s not a lot to love about that list. North Melbourne the same. They’ve got a bit more younger talent than West Coast, but I reckon those two finish bottom by a fair way.”
Brownlow: Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera (St Kilda)
“Nas for me. So flexible. If he gets shut down as a backman, he goes midfield, he can push forward as we saw and kick the match winning goal. I think he keeps growing.
“Obviously, he’s staying on – the love he will be getting from that club, their supporters and his teammates, he is the most exciting player in the AFL for me.”
Young player to watch: Jack Whitlock (Port Adelaide)
“He’s not a rookie, he’s second year, but Jack Whitlock. For a big guy, what he can do at training, how he covers the ground, agility, really strong in the air and wants to learn, wants to improve.
“A great person, I reckon he has a really good year. But, second year key forward, it’s tough, but I reckon he will show some really good signs.”
