The Kolkata Knight Riders paid INR 25.20 crore for Cam Green at the IPL auction, making the Australian all-rounder the most expensive overseas player in the competition’s history.

Green’s AU$4.17 million price - of which he will be paid AU$2.98m due to recently-introduced overseas talent rules - is the third highest amount paid for a single player at the IPL auction.

There was a bidding war between three teams including Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and the Knight Riders with the latter coming out on top.

It surpasses the INR 24.75 crore the Knight Riders paid for Mitch Starc in 2023.

Other key Aussies taken in the IPL auction include Josh Inglis to the Lucknow Super Giants for $1.4m, Ben Dwarshius to the Punjab Kings for $729,000 and Cooper Connolly to the same team for $497,000.

The likes of Spencer Johnson, Sean Abbott, Will Sutherland and Jhye Richardson went unsold while Steve Smith was also overlooked.
