Eight-time All Australian Patrick Dangerfield is among seven names added to the Victoria State of Origin squad.

The Geelong captain joins Cats teammates Jeremy Cameron, Max Holmes and Tom Stewart in the group of players so far named for the February 14 showdown in Perth.

Also joining Dangerfield are Lachie Ash, Josh Battle, Blake Hardwick, Zach Merrett, Ed Richards and Caleb Serong.

"Growing up I dreamt of playing footy, winning premierships and representing Victoria, so when Chris gave me a call to be a part of the return of Origin, I jumped at the opportunity to finally pull on the Big V," Dangerfield said.

"(Selector) Garry (Lyon), Chris and the wider coaching team are pulling together a great squad that epitomises what Victorian football is all about, we have a great mix of experience and youth, and no doubt everyone involved is looking forward seeing the Big V and Black Swan return in Perth next year."

Victoria's latest announcement follows seven additions to the WA team.

Brisbane Lions premiership pair Callum Ah Chee and Brandon Starcevich will join the WA squad, bringing their back-to-back victory expertise to the line-up.

24 year-old Fremantle local Trent Rivers, has also been recognised, as the dynamic youngster gears up to join Demons' teammate Kysaiah Pickett, who was announced as a representative for WA last week. The pair will face up against their fearless leader, with Max Gawn being named on the Victorian side in the upcoming contest.

The three will slot in alongside Port Adelaide's Mitch Georgiades, Geelong's Lawson Humphries, Western Bulldogs' Rory Lobb, and Gold Coast's Wil Powell.

Combining explosive defenders and strong key forward young guns with experienced star-power, WA is quickly assembling a line-up packed with competitive prowess, building anticipation for the ultimate WA v VIC contest.

This addition leaves open a final few spots up for grabs in the WA line-up, with final team announcements to come early in the new year.

Adding to the WA coaching panel, former Adelaide Crows captain and current assistance coach Nathan van Berlo will join head coach Dean Cox and Fremantle's Justin Longmuir.

The highly anticipated AFL Origin match will take place on February 14 at Optus Stadium, with Rivers returning to his home state to take the field to represent WA for this auspicious occasion.
