Kane Cornes has named the three teams he’s having trouble with placing ahead of the 2026 season.
The Port Adelaide great thinks he has a fair read on 15 of the AFL sides on how they’re shaping up for 2026, while Carlton, Melbourne and St Kilda are the three difficult ones.
Cornes thinks that the floor and ceiling for these teams are the furthest apart.
“There's a few (who I’m struggling to get a read on),” Cornes said on SEN Breakfast.
“I'm struggling with Carlton. I'm struggling a little bit with Melbourne, albeit I don't think they're going to play finals.
“I've got no idea about St Kilda. They could finish fourth, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they finished 10th.
“They're probably the one that I think most people would be going, ‘Gee, where do we sit with the Saints?’.
“They’re well coached and have new players, but there’s still some deficiencies in their list.
“They're probably the three for me.”
In 2025, Carlton (11th), St Kilda (12th) and Melbourne (14th) were amongst the mid-table sides that weren’t finals challengers but weren’t cellar-dwellers either.
As things stand with Sportsbet, Carlton’s over/under line for wins in 2026 is 8.5, Melbourne’s is also 8.5 while St Kilda’s is 12.5.
