It only took an hour and 32 minutes, but Alex de Minaur has delivered one of the most complete performances of his career to progress into the quarter finals of the Australian Open.

The World No. 6 has managed to defeat No. 10 seed Alexander Bublik 6-4, 6-1, 6-1 in front of a raucous crowd at Rod Laver Arena that was in admiration of his performance.

The Aussie was too good throughout the course of the match, with Bublik looking outclassed throughout the three sets.

Whether it be winning 81% of his first serve points (compared to Bublik's 54%), or the Kazakhstani not getting a single break point chance, it was simply dominant.

He was also helped by the fact that Bublik hit 36 unforced errors throughout the match compared to de Minaur's 10.

This now means that for the second consecutive year, de Minaur has advanced to the last eight of the Australian Open.

Reflecting on his win, the 26-year-old was proud that he could show that he was capable of beating players with strong ball striking like Bublik.

"Yeah, I got tired of the narrative that these big hitters can take the racquet out of my hands," de Minaur said in his post-game press conference.

"Over the years, I have kept on improving. I have kept on getting more and more out of myself.

"One of the things I have been constantly wanting to get to is exactly that, when I'm playing big hitters, not be a punching bag for them, ultimately and really show them that I can go toe-to-toe with them and actually dictate and get them moving.

"That's the most effective way to play these big guys."

The win was also special for the Australian No. 1 as he broke a two-match losing streak against Bublik, which included a five-set loss at Roland Garros, after winning the first two sets.

"Going into this one, I kind of wanted my revenge," he noted.

"I knew what to expect and what I didn't do right (in) the first couple (of) times.

"I was very pleased with getting over the line and not getting into trouble, because he can so easily get back into a match."

De Minaur now has a date with World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz as he hopes to progress to his maiden Grand Slam semi-final.

He is currently 0-6 in Grand Slam quarter finals.

That will likely be played on Tuesday night at Rod Laver Arena.
