Channel 9 and The Sydney Morning Herald's Michael Chammas is expected to be named as the PNG Chiefs' inaugural General Manager of Football as per Code Sports.
This comes after months of speculation that ARLC Chairman Peter V'Landys wanted to have the journalist involved with the NRL's newest expansion side.
Chammas is the latest addition to the Chiefs' off-field staff as they prepare for their entry into the competition in 2028.
Already, they have appointed Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League Director Lorna McPherson as the CEO of the NRL's 19th side.
But it hasn't been easy for the fledgling side who have already lost former Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs chairman Ray Dib from their board.
