Kane Cornes has reacted to the news that former captain Zach Merrett is open to discussions with Essendon about staying with the side beyond his contract.
The report, which was broken by AFL.com.au's Cal Twomey, suggested that the star midfielder was open to staying with the Bombers beyond his contract, which is due to end in 2027.
This was after requesting a trade during last year's trade period to the club's arch rivals in Hawthorn, with the deal not being able to get over the line.
But having had time to reflect on the pre-season, it appears that Merrett has changed his mind on a potential move away from the same side that drafted him.
Reacting to the news, Cornes would give his take using his famous walk and talk, which saw him criticise both Merrett and the club.
