"They'll win it": Gossage's 2026 AFL premiership prediction

SEN WA’s Tim Gossage has made a big call ahead of the 2026 season.

The breakfast host is picking Fremantle to win their maiden premiership this campaign, and there’s one key reason behind that. The recruitment of Mason Cox.

While Cox joins the Dockers as a delisted free agent having been let go by Collingwood, Gossage envisions the veteran playing a big role under Justin Longmuir.

Even though Cox himself might not have a huge individual impact, Gossage foresees the American freeing up

Gossage: “The mob in purple, they'll win it. They will win it.

“I think the Mason Cox recruiting is one of the shrewdest moves in recent years.”

Cornes: “Have you watched him play in the last two years?”

Gossage: “It doesn't matter, mate, he's just got to tap the ball forward.”

King: “A Mason Cox inspired premiership?”

Gossage: “Yep, I think it's a fantastic move. I’m not saying he’s a star.”

Cornes: “That’s a big statement to make. Mason Cox has been a depth player for a couple of years, and you're telling me that he's the difference?”

Gossage: “He will be the difference to allow Luke Jackson to do Luke Jackson things.”

Cornes: “You're telling me with a straight face they will play all three rucks? They shouldn't be playing two, but you're telling me they're going to play three?”

Gossage: “I think three will work fine for them. Cox and Darcy to ruck and Jackson has trained all pre-season as a mid.”

Fremantle begin their season with a Round 1 clash against Geelong on March 14 at GMHBA Stadium.
