RANDWICK
Race 2, No.1 - Mal Coupe
Smart type who put together a strong campaign last prep, winning four of his six starts. His recent trials suggest he’s returned in excellent shape and he lands in a very suitable Midway BM72 to resume. That closing win in a BM78 last time in was full of substance, accounting for Roslyn’s Star, Polyglot and later Group 3 winner Catch The Glory, solid form for a race of this depth. With James McDonald taking the reins, he profiles as the horse with the most upside and looks set to outclass this field.
Race 4, No.4 - Sovereign Hill
Accepted for two races but this looks the far better option from a map perspective, and I’d expect him to run here. He was dominant in this grade last start when allowed to stride forward and control proceedings, and the setup appears similar. An extra 50 metres won’t worry him and the switch to Hippo is no negative. If he finds his groove on speed, he’ll be very hard to run down.
