Denan Kemp believes that the Broncos’ chances of a dynasty are not over despite Payne Haas’ exit from the side at the end of the season.
With the star prop reuniting with his former coach, Wayne Bennett, on a three-year deal from 2027, this has led many to wonder how the Broncos will be able to contend beyond this season.
But considering the quality of players that the reigning premiers have amongst their spine alongside their forward pack outside of the 26-year-old, the former Broncos player thinks they can keep their form up.
“I think he (Haas) is the greatest individual front rower of all time,” Kemp explained on SEN’s Morning Glory with Matty Johns.
“(But) I just think, what kind of club are you that you’re like, ‘Well, there’s the dynasty over’.
“The Brisbane Broncos are supposed to be the biggest club in the competition. I’m not here saying we’re going to develop the next Payne Haas.
“But we’ve still got a spine of Reece Walsh (and) Ezra Mam. We’ve got (Xavier) Willison, who plays for the Kiwis currently.
“You’ve got Patty Carrigan, who’ll probably captain his state. You’ve got Kotoni Staggs in the centres.
“When I hear other clubs do this and they go, ‘It’s a bit of a down year’, and then you look at their squad, which is full of rep players still.
“You’re like, ‘What the hell are they talking about?’
"All the bottom eight clubs would kill to have five or six of these players.”
The Broncos have officially arrived in England as they gear up for the World Club Challenge against Hull KR on February 20.
Their first match for the season will be at Suncorp Stadium in a preliminary final rematch against the Penrith Panthers on March 6.
