Toby Bedford has suffered a serious hamstring tear as the GWS injury list suddenly explodes.
Bedford ripped his hamstring in the Giants’ practice match last Friday - the same game in which Tom Green collapsed with a suspected ACL rupture.
Bedford will be scanned tomorrow, but the expectation is he will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks.
Dual All-Australian Giant Sam Taylor was withdrawn from Saturday’s State of Origin clash with his own hamstring concern and will alap undergo scans.
Bedford has grown into a crucial high-speed cog in Giants coach Adam Kingsley’s system, whether as a lock-down tagger or a game-breaking ball-winner.
After playing 23 games in each of the past two seasons he’s now set for a significantly delayed start to 2026.
Green will also be further examined tomorrow, but the Giants remain resigned to the belief the star onballer will be out for the season.
With Origin’s return deemed an overwhelming success, Victoria coach Chris Scott praised the Giants in his post-match press conference given Toby Greene was racing the clock to feature.
“I don’t mind calling out Toby Greene as well. And I really appreciate GWS letting him play and he was fantastic for us tonight but he had an interrupted pre-season,” Scottt said.
“I wouldn’t blame them at all if they pulled him, but he was just so desperate to play.”
