Callum Ah Chee remains a chance for Round 1 after avoiding a serious hamstring injury suffered in State of Origin.

Ah Chee had a low grade hamstring strain before Christmas, but this strain was considered more serious.

Adelaide confirmed via a statement on Monday afternoon that Ah Chee has avoided any major concerns, remaining a chance to feature within the early stages of the season.

Crows forward Callum Ah Chee has been cleared of a serious injury, with scans confirming a low-grade strain in his right hamstring.

Ah Chee came off the ground during the AFL’s State of Origin match on Saturday after experiencing hamstring awareness late in the game.

Crows General Manager High Performance Ian McKeown said scans confirmed the forward would need to spend a short term on the sidelines, but he remained a chance to be fit for Round One.

“It’s unfortunate for Cal, but we’re optimistic about his chances of being ready to go for our Round One match against Collingwood,” McKeown said.

Ah Chee, a dual Brisbane Lions premiership player, joined Adelaide in the pre-season draft after a trade stalemate between the two clubs.

He was one of a number of players injured including Sam Taylor and Jacob Weitering in the otherwise successful return of Origin football.
