Matt Burton is likely to miss the Bulldogs’ season opener in Las Vegas against the Dragons after sustaining an injury to his hamstring.

The five-eighth was seen grabbing at his left hamstring during the first half of the Bulldogs’ 28-0 win over the Knights on Saturday in their second pre-season game.

And having headed straight to the locker room, it had Bulldogs fans worried for the worst.

Soon after, it was then subsequently reported by General Manager of Football of the Bulldogs, Phil Gould, that the doctor’s initial assessment of the injury was only low grade.

“Looks like low grade hamstring on the left,” he posted on X.

“Strength and range retained. Just felt a pinch in a tackle.”

He also confirmed that the 25-year-old would go for a scan to confirm the extent of the injury.

He’s not the only Bulldog battling an injury ahead of their Round 1 match.

New signing Leo Thompson has pulled out of the NRL All-Star Game on the basis of calf tightness.

The Dogs will play the Dragons on March 1.
