Star Blue a "good chance" for Opening Round as Origin injury revealed

Jacob Weitering suffered a fractured rib in the brutal collision that halted Saturday's State of Origin showdown.

But Carlton says its star full-back is still a "good chance" to play in Opening Round against Sydney.

Weitering was cleared of any further damage upon returning to his club today after being stretchered off Optus Stadium in a neck brace.

The Blues' vice captain will play a big role in shaping his side's crucial season - a make-or-break one for coach Michael Voss - starting against Swans spearhead and ex-teammate Charlie Curnow on March 5th.
