Cam Luke & David Taggart have your Saturday sorted on Trackside.
The lads have taken a close look at Caulfield & Rosehill in a bid to find the family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇
CAULFIELD
Race 6 | 2. Point Barrow
Was maybe a little disappointing in the Oakleigh Plate but she ran ok! The speed map is a little tricky as she does get back and the inside might not work hugely but I do like Stackhouse back on! Good track is her liking and back to the 1200m second up also works to her favour. Wouldn’t want her much shorter than $2.60 but back to her own sex, she will be very hard to beat!
Race 7 | 7. Philia (place)
Treasurethe Moment will win the race but this girl is a great place bet! Had no luck last start and she stays at 1600m third up which also works for her! She will push forward from the wide gate (sit OSL Astral Flame who she can follow over) and give a kick at the top of the straight! Moment will sit on her heels and should beat he home but I think this girl will run well again and this time with luck!
Race 8 | 7. Tropicus (each-way)
The question is the 1200m but he gets every chance to see it out from that gate! He was brilliant winning the Oakleigh Plate and like that day I expect a trailing run (1-1?) rather than lead in what will be a hot tempo! Jigsaw I think will come over and control it but with a little more pressure than last week and I think having a backside helps this bloke. He carried weight that day so WFA today doesn’t scare me as much as it could have. JimmyStar is the bloke to beat and the best horse in the race but he will need a smidge of luck at some point so ill have a little each way play on Tropicus who LOVES Caulfield and who will give a sight no doubt! If they go nuts up front, be wary of Angel Capital late even though his best chance to win a G1 will be over 1400.
Race 10 | 15. Enamorada
Her biggest test yet but she just eases through the grades really well! Covered them easily last start (form has held up)and now gets her shot today up to 1400 which looks like another tick. Plenty of speed (Regal Award / Porter among others) so no stress finding a backside from the widish gate. Really well weighted and the trial since her last run with JimmyStar was very nice! She is untapped and will show her talent today again! 1 out in the Quad!
ROSEHILL
Race 3 | 6. Movin Out (each-way)
I love this girl each-way. She was great winning first up and a little plain last start suggests up to 1900m today is what she needed. The speed is drawn wide so will allow this girl to find her groove with a backside. She runs well third up and no doubt the toe into the ground helps! A few winning chances but this girl will present late and be very hard to hold out! A great each way play at $11.
Race 5 | 1. Sir Delius
Aeliana is in ripping form but this bloke was just warming up last start. Gets to the 2000m which is a big tick. Small field means he will do no work to be in front of her. Soft track suits them both but I can't forget that he was Cox Plate fave! He is tough and is great second up! Aelaina was third up and backed in the Turnbull over 2000m but couldn’t get there. The winner Sir Delius! She was better than him last start no doubt but he is going to improve a bunch into his prep, so id rather take the $2.80 than the $1.50. Both in the EQ!
Race 6 | 1. Observer (win) & 1. Observer (1st) - 2. Autumn Boy (2nd) EXACTA
On a day of great racing, this could be the most fun! Observer will be in charge of this race! Last start beat Sixties and Planet Red and was in wrong part of track! I think he is better at 2000m and always seems like he has more in the tank when winning. Soft track first time wont hurt him and bad luck wont beat him. Autumn Boy I expect to run a good 2000m and will stalk him but again I am surprised he is odds on! I've had the exacta with Observer to win and Autumn Boy second. Both in quaddie but I think 2000m is Observer's best trip and will prove it today!
Race 7 | 3. Evaporate (place)
Autumn Glow will win the race! In saying that Evaporate always runs well and again did last start in the All Star Mile. Loves soft track, drawn perfect for the gun run and was great over 1500m (loves the trip) behind Autumn Glow in the Golden Eagle in spring. Again this is a great race with a nice field that’s been dominated by the best horse in the country but $3.30 the place for this bloke is a good bet!
Race 8 | 5. Paradoxium (each-way) & 9. Campione D'italia (each-way)
If Paradoxium drew a gate, I think he would be close to fave! In saying that, maybe later in the day wider the better. As long as he gets a backside and with the speed on, I think he will! He was great last start and even though Sydney form has been questioned , I think he is the best of them. Jason Collett will need to make a call once the barriers open but he is a jet and will get it right. If he gets luck (we'll know early) I think he will win the race!
I backed Campione D'italia last start when at huge odds. Will have derived benefit and is drawn well. Will stalk the speed and has ticked off the 1200m and soft! He will improve third time at the races, is it enough to win a Slipper? I am not entirely sure but he is way over the odds and gets some of my money but I do think Paradoxium is the better horse!
Race 9 | 14. Grafterburners
I think this horse is a star! He is so well weighted here and speed maps a lot better than Briasa. He'll squeeze and be prominent like he was in the Sunlight which has held some form. Little concern with a missed trial due to wet weather but still think he will have the fitness. Handles wet tracks and it's his toughest test but he will be 4-5 lengths in front of Briasa and that will be the difference. Really keen!!!!
CAULFIELD
Race 3 | 5. Myhro's Ruler
Might be the one here on debut as he will go straight to the front and get it all his way.
ROSEHILL
Race 2 | 8. Juja Kibo
Gets a 2.5 kilo weight swing on Campaldino from last start and he draws perfect as well to do no work throughout. Loves racing here and he won third up last prep. He’s going to be hard to beat.
Race 3 | 7. Polymnia (value)
Found the line coming from near last won by Pinito to finish third. Her only win came third up over 1800m and with the much better barrier this time she can turn the tables on the fav. She will race closer throughout and is worth an each-way ticket.
Race 4 | 2. Skyhook (BEST)
Resumes and he should be undefeated fresh. His recent trial was very good and hopefully the track remains soft. Draws perfect and shouldn’t be too far off the pace.
