Will Pride Of Jenni “expose” Autumn Glow?

Could Pride Of Jenni end Autumn Glow's unbeaten record?

The two mares will meet each other for the first time in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) on April 11.

Autumn Glow is currently the $1.40 favourite with Sportsbet, having not lost a race across her 11-start career, including three Group 1s, while the daughter of Pride Of Dubai is at $15.

The big query on the Chris Waller-trained bay, however, is how will she handle 2000m?

The Queen Elizabeth will be Autumn Glow’s first appearance across two kilometres, and Pride Of Jenni’s aggressive racing style adds an air of uncertainty around how the daughter of The Autumn Sun will handle the rise in distance.

Speaking on RSN’s Correct Weight, Nick Noonan questioned if the eight-year-old’s blitzing pace could expose Autumn Glow.

“It's setting up for what's going to be a fascinating contest with Jenni in the race,” Nick stated.

“Like, does that expose Autumn Glow?

“(Pride Of Jenni’s) probably the one horse you wouldn't want in the race if you were in (the Autumn Glow) camp.

“Because her first time at 2000m, if (Pride Of Jenni) does what she did (in the Australian Cup) and goes 23 lengths above standard, then we're really going to find out how good Autumn Glow is.”

In the Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m), the Ciaron Maher-trained mare delivered an incredible run, finishing second by only 0.02 lengths.

The loss was labelled as “one of the best performances in defeat in Australian racing history” by Nick’s brother Trav, due to the fan favourite causing majority of the field to fall apart after running 23 lengths above standard.

If Pride Of Jenni can replicate that blistering pace again on April 11, would that open the door for another horse to defeat Autumn Glow?
