Gout Gout has continued to set Australian athletics alight, having smashed the national record for the 200 metres.

Having broken Peter Norman's initial record back in 2025 with a 20.02, the 18-year-old has obliterated the record, having run a 19.67 with a legal tailwind of +1.7.

That would see him take out the 200m crown at the Australian Athletics Championships in Sydney.

Reacting on commentary, Channel 7's Bruce McAvaney was in awe of Gout's performance.

"Oh, incredible," he said.

"He has absolutely done what everybody thought he might.

"The world will be shaking. It is seismic."

With this run, the Queenslander has now set the fastest time of the year having beaten the previous best of 19.95 by American Garrett Kaalund.
