Gryan Miers’ season remains alive with Geelong holding off on sending him for surgery on a damaged ACL.

The Cats want to see how Miers’ right knee functions in the coming weeks given he played two games before reporting soreness that led to scans.

Those scans revealed a complicated injury, but not a full ACL tear which would have ended his campaign.

While Miers may yet be sent for a reconstruction, the unique nature of the injury and the fact he did play with the tear means there’s an appetite within club and player to push on and ask: ‘Why not?’

Miers players with knee strapping against Hawthorn on Easter Monday, but reported some pain after the win over West Coast in Gather Round.

He was with withdrawn before the win over the Western Bulldogs and his availability at senior level remains an unknown.

Miers has told the club his knee feels good, but there’s an acceptance that the injury could still go either way.
