Gator's Game Plan: Gately's best at Bendigo & Hawkesbury (02/05)

David Gately has provided his best bets for Bendigo and Hawkesbury on Saturday.

BET OF THE DAY (Melbourne)

BENDIGO - Race 6 No.10 - DUCHESS ZOU - Wide on-speed and just missed fresh then chased hard M’ton. To 1300m 3rd-up ideal.

BET OF THE DAY (Sydney)

HAWKESBURY - Race 5 No.2 - GOLDEN STRAAND - Backed heavy fresh and far to good for key rivals here running near 1-3-flat for 1100m. Won 2nd-up last prep then went on to beat Burma Star and TheBlade in record time.

VALUE BET OF THE DAY

HAWKESBURY - Race 10 No.3 - CHARCOALS - First two this prep very good with plenty against . Tipped him latest at a price but given no hope. Liked the late work. Now draws better, sits closer and gets drier ground. Happy to stick and $14 juicy.

Bendigo Miles

Race 9 - Listed Bendigo Mile - 1600m

1 - 2 - VON HAWKE - Did trial well before good return in Vic Hcp. He’s proven 2nd-up. He was best run in the race in this for mine last year then went on to win G3 MV at 1600m. Good value hope $14.

2 - 8 - ENXUTO - Too wet latest. Should have won G2 Ajax Stks in my humble; prior (was backed) and does have 2.5kg on Von Hawke for clash in Spring when both good and crossed line together.

3 - 6 - AL DUCA - Finds the front and hates horses passing him. What a trait that is! His 1600m record is phenomenal and taking a line though Athanatos (2nd in that Vic Hcp) his form clearly ties in. Would love on-pace pattern if that’s happening!

4 - 3 - HUGHES - Great ride to win that Vic Hcp and he did run well in WC Final at Flem his one go 1600m. Up in weights now but chance.

5 - 11 - WONDER BOY - Strong win latest in easier and ran the 1600m out with big weight. Plummets to 54kg here.

6 - 1 - OSIPENKO - Like way he found the wire in that Vic Hcp too and must have claims.
