South Sydney superstar Latrell Mitchell has broken his year-long media ban to pay tribute to teammate Campbell Graham, who plays his 150th game this week.
Mitchell was a surprise inclusion at a Rabbitohs press conference today ahead of the club’s match against the Sharks in Round 10.
The Rabbitohs centre volunteered for media duty to applaud the career of Campbell Graham, who continues to push for a NSW wing spot.
“Big Campbell is playing 150 this week – he is one of my great mates, one of my all-time teammates, and I am very proud of him,” Mitchell said.
“It is a special occasion this week. I only want to talk on special occasions and ‘Stretchie’ is that this week. I want to focus on the team and bring it back to them. I am very excited going into this round.
“Campbell has been a really good teammate to me for a long time and I thought what better time to come out and have a yarn than for his 150th.”
With the injury to Mark Nawaqanitawase over the weekend, Campbell Graham has surged into contention to make an Origin debut on May 27.
Josh Addo-Carr is another contender to partner Brian To’o, with Jacob Kiraz still on the sideline.
Speaking on SEN, NSW coach Laurie Daley confirmed Graham was in the mix, and was a big fan of the Rabbitohs winger.
“Campbell Graham is someone I've always had a big opinion of but just hasn't been quite able to get a run of it with injuries,” Daley told SEN 1170 Breakfast.
Graham has scored five tries in seven appearances this season, running for an average of 142 metres a match.
