Gannon has taken a close look at Randwick.
Race 5 #5 Nasebah
Made a strong impression at her Australian debut when proving too good over 1800m in midweek grade. She then dropped back to a mile and wasn't disgraced in much stronger company, making late ground before running into traffic at a crucial stage in the straight. The return to 1800m looks ideal and with Tommy Berry taking over, she profiles as a mare ready to produce her best run of the campaign third-up.
Barrier 4 should allow her to find cover without spending any petrol early and with genuine speed engaged, the race sets up for her to settle comfortably before launching late. If she gets the breaks at the right time, she'll take plenty of holding out.
Race 8 #16 Amazing Eagle
There was plenty to like about his first run for the new stable, producing one of the better performances of his career despite not having everything go his way. Luck wasn't exactly with him again second-up over the short course, but he now gets conditions that appear far more suitable.
The rise to 1200m is a positive, he's drawn to land in a prominent position and should enjoy a soft run either outside the leader or tucked in behind the speed. Although stepping up in grade, the significant drop in weight is a major advantage and Alysha Collett takes the reins. He's a proven performer at the trip, gets every favour from the map and is over the odds at the current quote of $4.00.
