Who is into the last 16?
Mexico became the first side to secure a spot in the Round of 32 on Friday (AEST) following their 1-0 win over South Korea.
With FIFA’s new tiebreaker rule that prioritises the head-to-head clash between nations on equal points compared to the traditional method of using goal difference, El Tri will now finish Group A in first.
That rule change has also benefitted fellow co-hosts the United States, who have won Group D following their 2-0 victory over Australia and Germany, who have claimed top spot in Group E with a come-from-behind 2-1 win against Côte d'Ivoire.
Thanks to another goalscoring outing from Lionel Messi, Argentina are through in Group J, as are France with Kylian Mbappe hot on Messi's heels in the race for the golden boot.
Norway's 3-2 win over Senegal sees them through - incredible really given it's their first World Cup in 28 years.
Colombia booked their spot in the next phase with a 1-0 win over DR Congo to mark their second triumph at the tournament.
Switzerland topped Group B with a 2-1 win over hosts Canada who are also through.
Bosnia and Herzegovina finished third with four points and a -1 goal difference which has them progressing as a third-placed side.
Brazil beat Scotland 3-0 to top Group C, marginally ahead of Morocco who twice came from behind to eventually account for Haiti 4-2. Scotland has dropped to seventh on the third-place table and will now need results to go their way.
For the first time in their history, South Africa has made the knockouts thanks to a 1-0 win over South Korea. The Asian side is now waiting on results to see if they progress into the Round of 32. They sit fourth among the third place sides.
Finishing second, Cote d'Ivorie have progressed out of Group E with Ecuador joining them as one of the third place finishers courtesy of their upset win against Germany.
With Japan drawing against Sweden, Netherlands have won Group F with the Samurai Blue claiming the runner-up spot.
Thanks to that draw against Japan, Sweden claims a third place spot for the Round of 32.
A draw was all Australia needed for a spot in the Round of 32. And that's what they got against Paraguay with its total of four points enough for second spot in Group D.
Despite being a country of only 500,000 people, Cabo Verde on their World Cup debut have progressed to the knockouts. The minnows drew all three games which was enough to surpass Uruguay.
European cohort Spain, Belgium, England, Portugal and Croatia all secured their spots in the final few days, while AFCON representitives DR Congo, Egypt, Ghana and Senegal all confirming their places in the knockouts.
And at the last hour, both Algeria and Austria progress, scoring goals in the final seconds to draw 3-3 and lock in a spot in the 32!
While some teams have secured their passage to the Round of 32, others have seen their chances go up in smoke with a match to spare.
Haiti became the first team to be eliminated in the 48-team tournament after suffering a 3-0 loss to Brazil, which, coupled with their 1-0 loss to Scotland, sees them finish in fourth in Group D with a clash against Morocco to go.
They were quickly joined by Turkiye, which suffered another shock defeat. This time, they lost to Paraguay 1-0 despite the South American side playing with 10 men for the entire second half.
Tunisia is unable to go further in Group F after Japan put four goals past them. That is their second four goal defeat in this tournament.
Jordan are also heading home from Group J. Panama are out after two 1-0 defeats.
Qatar finished bottom of Group B and are out.
Following their 3-nil defeat against Mexico, the Czech Republic has seen their World Cup come to an end.
World Cup minnows Curacao have seen their campaign finish with a 2-nil loss against Cote d'Ivorie.
Graham Arnold's Iraq are now heading home following a five star performance by Senegal.
New Zealand, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan all bow out at the bottom of their respective groups.
Despite finishing third in their groups, Scotland, Uruguay, South Korea and Iran also head home.
