Adem Yze’s Tigers might be in a rebuilding phase, but David King is far from pleased with what he’s seen from the young side this season.
Entering 2026, Richmond was never expected to compete for finals footy. Five wins last season, their young core still required much development before post-season footy became a real consideration.
And the year has transpired in a devastating manner for the club, suffering an immense number of injuries that have seen the side miles from full strength on a weekly basis.
That said, King is far from sold on Yze’s progression from the side this year.
Just two wins, the Tigers have served up some ugly performances, few worse than their 25-point loss to the struggling Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday arvo.
Irrespective of their extensive injury list, King has cried out for a positive sign from Yze’s men.
“Just (show us) something,” King told SEN Fireball.
“Liven it up a bit. For the love of God, get the game going!
“Be aggressive into the corridor, give us some run and gun. Give us something a bit different!
“I know it’s a development phase and they are not the finished product… just show us something!
“Why is it that Melbourne can come in and go ‘whoosh whoosh whoosh’?
“Yes, they might have some better and more equipped senior players, but every third week we see this kind of performance and we go, what is that!”
It doesn’t get any easier for the 2-12 Tigers, with Collingwood at the MCG to come, followed by the in-form Blues, the Demons, Hawks and Dogs.
