Off the back of their nil-all draw against Paraguay on Friday, the Socceroos booked their spot in the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup™.
It's only the third time they've done so in the team's history, and the first time that it's been done in consecutive tournaments.
And now, Australia has learnt who they'll face.
Having finished as runners-up in Group D, the Socceroos will face Egypt.
Despite being in top spot throughout the final matchday, Belgium's 5-1 victory against New Zealand has seen leapfrog the Pharaohs.
The two sides will face off at Dallas Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday, July 4 with kick-off at 4am (AEST).
The Socceroos are yet to win a knockout match at a FIFA World Cup™, having lost their previous two knockout matches of the tournament.
In comparison, Egypt has never made the second phase of the tournament with their best finish being in the Round of 16 back in 1934 (when only 16 teams competed in the tournament).
The winner of this clash progresses into the Round of 16, where they'll face either reigning champions Argentina or World Cup debutants Cape Verde.
