With Jarome Luai looking for his third club in the space of four years, Matty Johns believes the Eels could be a great addition to their side.

The news came out on Thursday that the four-time premiership player will not be a part of the Tigers’ 2027 squad, seeing him only serve two of his five-year contract at the merged club.

Luai is now available to join another club for one season before he joins the PNG Chiefs in 2028, with plenty of clubs having thrown their hat into the ring for his services.

Following that, Parramatta has quickly emerged as the favourites to secure his services, with the club having had an opening for a five-eighth with the loss of Jonah Pezet to the Broncos next season.

And with the Eels having one of the younger rosters in the competition, the 1997 Premiership player thinks the Samoan representative can provide some much-needed experience.

“We've seen with a few other clubs like Connor Watson and the Dragons, if it was my club, I would,” Johns told SEN’s Morning Glory with Matty Johns.

“One thing Jarome can bring is if you've got young players in the club… the Eels are a perfect example; he can come for one season and have your young players rub up against a player who's got experience and quality about him.

“I think it'd only be a good thing.”

Luai will suit up for the Tigers on Saturday night against the Bulldogs at Accor Stadium.

Kick-off is at 7:35pm.
