SEN's FIFA World Cup Team of the Tournament

The best of the best have shone on the biggest stage.

FIFA World Cup 2026™ has come and gone. 104 games across the USA, Canada and Mexico have wrapped up, with Spain crowned champions for the second time in their storied history.

SEN has selected their World Cup Team of the Tournament, combining the 15 best performers from all over the world.

Starting XI

GK: Diogo Costa (Portugal)

Portugal's number one kept his nation alive within the competition. Only two clean sheets, but fourth for total saves with 19, second in save percentage at over 86 per cent and third for goals prevented, without Diogo Costa, Portugal could have suffered a far worse fate.

RB: Pedro Porro (Spain)

By far the best full back of the tournament. Two goals and 10 chances created to go with Spain's record-breaking seven clean sheets, Porro is a lock at right back.

CB: Pau Cubarsi (Spain)

The young player of the tournament played every single minute in Spain's cup winning campaign. At just 19, Cubarsi was a level above for the entire tournament.

CB: Lisandro Martinez (Argentina)

Argentina were very unfortunate to lose Lisandro in the World Cup final. 12 total tackles, 53 defensive contributions to go with a goal, an assist and some crucial contributions in desperate times, the Butcher earns his place.

LB: Marc Cucurella (Spain)

Another of Spain's stars, Cucurella's work shutting down Michael Olise en route to the final was worthy of this spot alone. Two assists and always threatening going forward, Cucurella defended the left superbly.

CM: Jude Bellingham (England)

England's starboy proved his ability on the greatest stage. Comfortably his nation's best and one of the most dynamic midfielders going forward, Bellingham finished with seven goals and an assist in a phenomenal showing.

CM: Rodri (Spain)

Self-explanatory. The Golden Ball winner, Rodri was the engine behind Spain's triumph. An absolute stalwart behind the ball and phenomenal in control on it, Rodri proved once more why he is the best midfielder on the planet.

AM: Michael Olise (France)

The best creator of the tournament, Olise mounted seven assists - the most in a single tournament in World Cup history. A constant threat, Olise's combination with Kylian Mbappe was one of the highlights of the tournament. Had he brought his shooting boots, the Golden Ball could have been a genuine outcome.

RW: Lionel Messi (Argentina)

Age will never defy this man. Eight goals and four assists, Messi somehow outdid his exceptional 2022 campaign at 39 years of age. Single-handedly dragged Argentina over the line on numerous occasions. 21 goals - second only to Mbappé - and 12 assists - more than any player in history - two Golden Balls and a World Cup trophy, Messi's World Cup legacy has been cemented as the greatest to ever play the game.

ST: Erling Haaland (Norway)

What a way to announce yourself on the world stage. Seven goals in his World Cup campaign, Haaland put Norway back on the footballing map, forcing his nation through to the semi-finals with his freakish ability to find the back of the net.

LW: Kylian Mbappé (France)

The Golden Boot winner, Mbappé was at his absolute best for the entirety of France's campaign. 10 goals and four assists, the 27-year-old now has 22 World Cup goals, and will undoubtedly go down as the greatest ever World Cup performer.

Bench

Vozinha (Cabo Verde)

The cult hero of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, 40-year-old keeper Vozinha dragged World Cup debutants Cabo Verde into the knockouts, pulling off a range of incredible saves and taking Argentina all the way through to extra time.

Achraf Hakimi (Morocco)

Morocco's captain was exceptional at right back, driving forward to contribute with a goal, two assists and 17 chances created - sixth most across the tournament and six more than the second best defender.

Julián Quiñones (Mexico)

Mexico were a treat at their home World Cup, led by none other than Julián Quiñones. Scoring the opening goal of the tournament en route to four goals and an assist, Quiñones carried his incredible league form to the World Cup and delivered on home soil.

Ousmane Dembélé (France)

The third of France's exciting trio, Dembélé performed to his Ballon D'Or level, scoring six goals and assisting two off the wing in support of Kylian Mbappé.

Harry Kane (England)

Six goals for England's main man, establishing himself as his nation's best ever World Cup goalscorer and moving into equal fifth for all time World Cup goals with 14.
