"Greatest this century": Cornes makes butt tattoo vow in Wizard gamble

Committing to a tattoo on a footy bet is nothing new.

Wanting to get the tattoo is, however, with Kane Cornes hopeful of having Nick Watson forever imprinted on his left butt cheek should the Hawthorn star win the 2026 Coleman Medal.

The Wizard is currently joint third in the Coleman race with 44 goals, six behind leader Charlie Curnow, but his form suggests he is more than a chance of winning.

Standing at just 170cm, Cornes believes that Watson finishing on top would go down as the “greatest individual achievement this century”, and he’s so confident, he’s putting his left gluteal on the line.

“I am putting Charlie Curnow, Ben King, Logan Morris, Josh Treacy, Jye Amiss, Aaron Naughton and Jeremy Cameron in the gun,” he said.

“If Nick Watson wins the Coleman Medal, this will be the greatest individual achievement this century. He would be the second smallest.

“Since 2000, in an individual season, by one player, this would be the greatest achievement.

“Dustin Martin is in the conversation for the 2017 season when he won everything, but put this in perspective, Watson would be the smallest Coleman medal winner since 1933.

“These big fellas cannot let Watson - who is listed at 1.70m, but I think he’s closer to 1.66m - win the Coleman. They are all in the gun. A small man doesn’t win the Coleman, it just does not happen.

Then comes the threat: “I hope it happens; I’m going to get a Watson Wizard tattoo on my left butt cheek if it does happen. What is going on? This would be extraordinary.”
