Positive update for Manly as Foran reveals star's return date

Sea Eagles coach Kieran Foran has confirmed a slate of Manly's stars will return after the bye, potentially including superstar Tom Trbojevic.

There were fears for Trbojevic's season, after he suffered a minor strain in his right hamstring against the Titans in Round 20, having just returned from an injury to his left hamstring.

However, in good news for Manly, the club will reassess Trbojevic after the side's Round 22 bye, with the hope being he can return in Round 23.

It would mean Turbo ultimately only misses one game as the Sea Eagles continue to fight for a spot in the finals.

"It's on the smaller side... it was really good news from our point of view," Foran told SEN 1170 Breakfast.

"We were initially thinking it could have been anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks, so to hear that it's very minor, he should bounce back from this one relatively quickly.

"We've got the bye after this game. It gives us an opportunity to reassess him closer to that Melbourne game."

Foran also confirmed a slate of stars were expected to return for the Sea Eagles after the bye, including Clayton Faulalo, Corey Waddell and Brandon Wakeham.

"(Clayton's) close too," Foran confirmed.

"We've got a few that should be back after the bye hopefully, which would be great because we have been hit with a few injuries lately.

"Hopefully Clayton's (Faulalo) available, Brandon Wakeham, Corey Waddell... it'd be nice to get a few troops back in there.

"Clayton, he's been a big loss also."

In the absence of Trbojevic and Faulalo, Foran has named Tolu Koula on a wing for the Sea Eagles - his position in State of Origin - with Josh Feledy named at centre.

However, Foran confirmed Koula and Feledy would alternate between centre and wing over the course of their match against the Sharks, with the goal being to give Koula good early ball.

"Obviously, we've got Josh Feledy (at centre) so, I think between Tolu (Koula) and Josh Feledy, they'll sort of (be) swapping in and out the match," Foran said.

"They tended to do that last week. At times... one was defending at centre and wing, and then they'd swap in attack.

"So, (I'm) happy to let the boys work that out but the earlier we can get Tolu the ball, as you can imagine, coming out of our own (end), the better strike we've got in our footy team."

The Sea Eagles sit in ninth heading into Round 21, coming up against a red-hot Sharks side who sit in fourth.
