“He’s the one”: Cornes praises Reid's BOG performance

Move over Shai Bolton and Caleb Serong, Kane Cornes believes that Murphy Reid is now Fremantle’s most important player to their success.

The Dockers have continued to prove why they’re the favourites to win it all in 2026, having demolished the Eagles in the Western Derby by 70 points on Friday night.

In that victory, Reid of the Fremantle variety claimed his first Glendinning–Allan Medal having managed 26 disposals, eight score involvements, six inside 50s and a goal.

This sees him join the likes of fellow teammates Jordan Clark, Caleb Serong, Sean Darcy and Hayden Young to achieve the honour.

Following that win, the 300-game player for Port Adelaide believes that the 19-year-old has become the most important player to tag from the Dockers.

“I can't wait for the day Murphy Reid gets a tag,” Cornes said on SEN’s Crunch Time.

“He hasn't had one yet, and whether that's coming (for him but) he's the one now.

“He's the one. He's jumped (Shai) Bolton. It used to be Serong (but he’s) definitely superseded that.

“His ball use, he did the best kick I've seen this year inside forward 50 to (Isaiah) Dudley on the outside of the boot.

“This was on the run and right in the lap of Dudley, but yeah, he’s must-watch.”

The Dockers are back in the Friday night timeslot as they host the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium.

The match begins from 8:10pm AEST (7:40pm local time).
