Cam Luke & David Taggart have your Saturday sorted on Trackside.
The lads have taken a close look at Caulfield & Randwick in a bid to find the family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇
CAULFIELD
Race 4 | 3. Signature Scent
She was really impressive last start after nearly three months off and that was after one trial so expect a bunch of improvement today. Stays at the 1100m which works as does the gate to stalk the speed (Prince Tycoon who is the danger will lead). Jabez Johnstone gave a ripping ride last start and will need another today. She should lob one out, one back. Track works really well and will be hard to hold out late!
Race 6 | 1. Decalogue
Bloody good race with two different form races but this bloke today will be allowed to roll I think compared to last start. There isn't a huge amount of speed so he will be able to control at his pace which he might need first time to 2400m. Pulled his way all 2000m last start, I'd say he will race better today where the instruction might be different. Handles all track conditions and if he finds the groove today like he had previous to last start, he will be might hard to beat!
Race 8 | 15. Aeolian (BEST)
I thought her first Aussie run was ok in a race too short and with a bad gate and off a slow tempo also probably the inside was a tad slower. Can be a little closer here from the gate up to 2000m and find her groove. Toe into the ground is a win as is the claim which leaves her with 50kg. She has had the freshen up which the imports enjoy early in their Aussie life and she will be very hard to beat. Best of the day in Melbourne.
Race 9 | 4. Jenni Gone Bonkers (each-way)
Cruiserweight absolutely deserves to be fav and will be very hard to beat but Jenni comes out of the same race and expect her to have a better run in transit. She was posted wide on speed facing the breeze first-up and did pretty well to tough it out late. She is drawn well to have a better map and she runs well second-up. A drying track wouldn’t be the worst and staying at the 1400m after her tough run helps. Even with more weight, she is a really good each-way play and is way over the odds.
RANDWICK
Race 3 | 1. The Mona Lisa
Perfectly drawn today to have run of the race. Stays at the 1600m after having no luck last start and still running really well. This race sets very similar to her win two back and a drying track would help even more! I don't often dip the toe into Midway's but I think the set up here for this girl is too hard to ignore.
Race 5 | 13. Horizons (BEST)
This race lacks depth and speed and because of that I expect this girl to control at her leisure. Forget last start she didn’t like the heavy track so the sun and a drying track works in her favour in a big way! The 1800m is zero worry and Zac Lloyd (superstar) can roll across and get her into a groove. Satono Jasmine is the only danger and will be a few lengths off Horizons and will need a little luck and when the race is there to be won I think this girl will have made her own luck. Best of the day in the Harbour city!
Race 9 | 6. Hawker Hall
I'm taking on Ice Kool here and I am fairly confident. This bloke has trialled up well and always runs well first-up. Deliciously drawn and JMac is back and on top which always works including a win on him. That win on the Gold Coast was his best and a bunch of horses have gone on and been winners in nice races. I think he has been well placed, 1100m works, the drying track is an advantage and will take a bunch of beating. I've left the fav out of the quaddie, only got the two with the other being Big Red Tequila who has been good and has the weight swing on the fav but my main bet is Hawker Hall.
CAULFIELD
Race 1 | 1. Takeko
Blew out first-up and she wasn’t disgraced in a race that was harder than this. Strips fitter for that run and a recent trial will bring her on for this. This is her pet trip and she will be up on pace which is a plus.
Race 5 | 3. Magnaspin (value)
Improved off his first-up run last start and he should improve again stepping up to the mile getting his own way in front with an uncontested lead and a three kilo claim which is the key. He looks a great each-way play.
Race 9 | 2. Cruiserweight (best)
Is looking to remain undefeated and he meets many of the same horses again after his dominant win here two weeks ago. Should only keep improving and he looks a serious horse in the making.
RANDWICK
Race 4 | 1. Sanctified (value)
Looks an each-way play here as he drops back into 3yo company. Was an unplaced fav last start but he will find this a lot easier than that. Form has stood up through Zouripper.
Race 7 | 1. Benevac
Smashed them in this grade on the heavy last start and you would think he will do the same here by leading all the way from a good draw. Goes up a couple of kilos but still comes in OK with the Siena Grima claim.
