Jayne Ivil

Ruakaka

Race 7 BM 75 1600m

2 – 7 – 5 – 4

Bourbon Proof produced an improved performance on the track last start, his first start for the local Michelle Bradley Stable. He produced the best closing sectionals to finish 2nd by a narrow margin. He was stakes placed on multiple occasions as a 3YO and I’m hoping the new yard and beach environment has reinvigorated the now five-year-old. Super Rosa has been backed since early markets opened and hasn’t missed a placing at the course over the mile.

Race 9 BM65 2100m

2 – 13 – 1 – 7

Sweet But Psycho started favourite last start at the track but did have some excuses finishing into second. The winner made the running and with a 2.5kg weight swing did enough to hold off the mare in the concluding stages, she can turn the tables this time around meeting Sibella at equal weights here. Paper Romance is an interesting runner backing up from Sunday. A lightly tried galloper who has all but won his last two, still new but the engagement of Matt Cameron in the saddle provides the galloper with a strong front running rider.

Riccarton

Race 8 BM75 1400m

1 – 2 – 7 – 4

He’s Lucid produced a career peak figure fresh up at Hawera in this grade over the 1400m trip. He won’t be concerned with the heavy footing at Riccarton and has won on the expansive course. Scratched out of an easier race on Thursday to travel South. Trainer Kevin Myers has a terrific record at Riccarton with almost 1200 starters he has maintained a career winning strike rate of 19%, and 22% over the last 12 months. Shawshank is the inform runner leading into this after posting wins in his last two outings. Belzoni looks suited coming back to the 1400m trip.
