With the Broncos' season all but over, Corey Parker has taken aim towards hooker Cory Paix following a lack of spark within the club’s attack this season.

Having spent the last two seasons in the No. 9 jersey, the 26-year-old has gone through the full rollercoaster, having gone from winning the premiership in 2025 to currently residing in 15th place after losing 10 of their last 11 games in 2026.

One of Brisbane’s main issues for this season has been in attack.

After ranking second for points scored per game (27.8) last year, the Broncos are currently 16th in the same metric (18.2) just a year later, with only the Dragons behind them.

Reflecting on the issue, the Broncos legend noted that with other players in the spine like Reece Walsh not being as influential in attack, it has resulted in Paix’s lack of running threat being exposed, suggesting that someone else should be given the No. 9 jersey.

“I mean, last year when your half, five-eighth and fullback were all being threats, you get away with having just a worker in at dummy half,” Parker said on SENQ Breakfast.

“That being what was Cory Paix. He's not a running dummy half like a Blayke Brailey, so to speak.

“But when your half and five-eighth are down on confidence, as is the whole side, it does, I suppose, emphasise the lack of running threat out of hooker.

“So, whether the coach makes a change and puts (Blake) Mozer in or puts Billy Walters into that role, we'll wait and see.”

While Brisbane’s push for finals is over, they’ll be keen to get the chocolates against the Dolphins in the Battle for Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium.

That match takes place on Saturday with kick-off from 5:30pm AEST, with SEN having live coverage of the match on SENQ and on the SEN app, with Broncos Radio beginning from 5:05pm.
