Collingwood's record-breaker keen to play on in 2027

Scott Pendlebury is keen to play on in 2027.

Reported by SEN's Tom Morris, the AFL's record games holder is prepared to go around for another year, having played 15 games for the Magpies over their 2026 campaign.

Currently without a deal ahead of next season, the 440-game superstar is exploring the possibility of continuing his stellar career with Collingwood.

However, the prospect of playing on for another season could be paired with the prospect of donning new colours.

"So my understanding is Scott Pendlebury would like to play on next year," Morris told SEN Locked In.

"He has an appetite to go again, even though an injury could change this. As it sits, he'd like to play in 2027.

"Collingwood is yet to offer a contract. And while I think they surely would present something, there is no confirmation of that yet.

"And it's this fact which has made other clubs sit up and genuinely consider whether they should make a play for him in a playing/assistant coaching role.

"Let me also say this... I've spoken to a lot of people around this situation in the last week. Everyone is treading exceptionally carefully. It's delicate.

"Would Pendlebury feel comfortable playing 60% game time and even VFL next year? That's why other clubs are on high alert."

Pendlebury continues to perform exceptionally well at the top level, averaging 24 disposals and four clearances per game across the season.
