"Completely unacceptable": Australia suffers humiliating loss to Bangladesh

In their first Test on Australian shores in 23 years, Bangladesh has secured arguably its biggest victory in the Test arena, having defeated Australia by nine wickets at Marrara Stadium in Darwin.

It’s a result few would have expected, but throughout the four days, Bangladesh proved to be the better side with bat and ball, resulting in a comfortable victory for the Tigers.

The historic win marks only the second time that Bangladesh has beaten Australia at the Test level and the first time they have beaten them away from home.

Speaking prior to Bangladesh securing the result, former Australian Test bowler Trent Copeland called the result completely unacceptable for the World No.1 side in the format.

“The players themselves will be, I'm sure, distraught with how this has gone,” Copeland told SEN Cricket.

“I also think there is an element of they won't be sitting in this like the world is over either but this is a completely unacceptable test match result for Australia.

“When you are in your own conditions, I don't care the preparation, I don't care who's playing for Australia even. You cannot lose to Bangladesh in Australia in a Test match.

“I'm hesitant to go all in on it, but this is an embarrassing loss and one that's unacceptable, and the people who will know that most are the 11 blokes who've taken the field, and Andrew McDonald and the coaching group.”

As a result, the Tigers take a 1-nil series lead in the two-Test series.

Australia will look to get its revenge against Bangladesh next week when they play the Second Test in Mackay at the Great Barrier Reef Arena.
