The GWS Giants are preparing for life with a new-look forward line, with their captain, Coleman Medallist and 2026 leading goal kicker all set to move on over the off-season.
But it’s not all doom and gloom for coach Adam Kingsley.
Toby Greene, Jesse Hogan and Jake Stringer have likely played their last games as Giants, with the trio expected to move on ahead of 2027.
However, with some serious talent ready to step up in the front half, Josh Jenkins is confident that the side will be better off long term.
As Jenkins revealed on Sunday afternoon, their club legend is incredibly likely to join his mate and former superstar Giant in Victoria.
“Toby Greene, I think, is a 99 per cent chance of being a Cat next year. 99.9 per cent even,” Jenkins told SEN Crunch Time.
“Jake Stringer has already announced that he will be coming back to Melbourne and if you can get him on a short contract, you’ll get the best forward in the game!
“Two clubs for Stringer; I think Collingwood could use a goal kicker inside 50, and I think the Saints could use a goal kicker inside 50.
“I don’t really see many other fits for him. He has played for a couple of the clubs in Melbourne and the others either aren’t really there – Richmond – or don’t need a forward in their mix.
“Jesse Hogan is the other one. Every time Hogan plays, Max Gruzewski doesn’t get to play, and I like the look of him. He presents well at the footy, finishes well.
“A forward line without Greene, Stringer and Hogan, on paper you might think, that’s a bit alarming.
“But you play Gruzewski as your close-to-goal forward. You’ve got Aaron Cadman who has played 77 games; he is on a big contract. It’s time to go.
“And you’ve got Jake Riccardi coming back as your forward/backup ruck, who has clearly played some okay games at different stages.
“I like what it looks like for them because that’s their next drive forward.
“Greene, Stringer and Hogan are not going to take them where they want to get to in the next two or three years.”
After suffering defeat to the Adelaide Crows on Saturday night, the Giants nestled into a 12th place finish in 2026, 10 points short of a Wildcard spot.
