Vics captain Brendan Fevola has given an update on the injury which ended his Legends Game on Thursday night, saying he expects a six to twelve month recovery.
The Carlton great was playing in the SEN charity match at Marvel Stadium alongside the likes of Buddy Franklin, Dustin Martin and Eddie Betts.
But it all went horribly wrong early in the game when Fevola's radio co-host Nick Cody bulldozed into the back of him and his left leg got caught at an incredibly awkward angle.
Fev made it to the boundary before being helped from the field for medical attention. he took no further part in the game which the Vics won 6.17.6 (162) to 5.14.8 (137).
"Obviously last night was a disaster," Fev said on Friday morning.
"I didn't see Nick because he was behind me because I was that quick. I felt a pop and I thought 'uh oh' and I don't think I've ever played a footy game where I've marked the ball and had to give away a shot at goal. That's when I knew I was in trouble. I was like 'I can't kick this. I don't think I can get up'.
"I can't really remember (what happened) because I was in a bit of shock and it swelled up pretty quick. I bum crawled my way to the boundary line like a man who had lost all his dignity. I couldn't move my quad. I couldn't feel my quad. I was like 'I can't move'.
"I'm in a bit of pain. I can't move my leg. The doctor said he thinks it's a partially torn quad tendon. I Googled it and it says six to 12 months (recovery). I can't lift my leg and this was my good leg. I told the doc my other knee is cooked so I'm probably going in for a double operation."
