Can the Roosters win the comp without Walker?

Following the tough news of Sam Walker’s season-ending injury, Corey Parker has all but ruled a line through the Sydney Roosters’ premiership hopes in 2026.

In a top-four clash against the Dolphins on Saturday night, the Queensland halfback hobbled off the field at the 52nd minute of their 26-12 loss at Allianz Stadium.

After scans, it was confirmed that Walker would miss the remainder of the season with a high-grade syndesmosis injury.  

With the Tricolours now missing a key member of their spine, the Broncos legend believes their hopes of winning a 16th premiership are significantly reduced due to the lack of creativity in attack without the 24-year-old.

“I nearly say that the Roosters can't win without Sam Walker,” Parker said on SENQ Breakfast.

“I say that respectfully, and look, DCE is there, and he's won comps before.

“But the unpredictability that Sam Walker brings to that football side and that up tempo just off the cuff (football), so now I'm seeing James Tedesco touch the ball more and try and play a hand from a creativity point of view.

“And that's not James Tedesco's go; he's not a creative player.

“He's more of a runner. So, it'll be interesting to see how and what unfolds there.”

The Roosters play their final game of the regular season on Friday night against old rivals in South Sydney at Allianz Stadium.

Kick-off takes place at 8pm AEST.
