Freedman gun secures first Everest slot

Michael Freedman Racing has confirmed that gun four-year-old sprinter Ninja will be heading to the $20 million Everest!

Trained by Michael Freedman, Ninja will take John Camilleri’s Fairway Thoroughbreds slot in the 2026 edition of the world’s richest sprint on turf.

“We are thrilled to advise that Ninja has secured a slot in the 2026 TAB Everest," Michael Freedman Racing tweeted on X.

“The Everest will be held at Royal Randwick on Saturday, 17th October, where Ninja will take his place in the world's richest race on turf.

“Adding to the occasion, Ninja will represent his breeder, part-owner and loyal client, John Camilleri of Fairway Thoroughbreds, in this year's running of the $20 million feature.

“This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for Ninja and everyone involved in the horse, and we look forward to sharing further details with you as we build towards Everest Day.”

Ninja most recently won the Group 2 Missile Stakes (1200m) by 1.2 lengths, defeating Napoleonic and Angel Capital.

Ninja holds a price of $15 with Sportsbet in The Everest market, while Hong Kong sprinter Ka Ying Rising remains the $1.55 favourite.

The Everest will be run at Royal Randwick on Saturday, 17th October.
