Ben Simmons set to make stunning NBA return

Ben Simmons will return to the NBA for the upcoming season, having officially signed on with the Sacramento Kings.

The former No.1 pick has signed a one-year contract worth $3.5 million ($4.86 million AUD), which will see him feature in the league for the first time since the 2024/25 season.

Simmons had been making a concerted effort to play in the NBA once again, having been spotted last month training with several Boomers teammates in Melbourne.

At his peak, the three-time All-Star was one of the competition’s best defensive players, having earned several selections for the NBA’s All-Defensive First Team.

The Sacramento Kings are the fourth franchise he has suited up for, having previously played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers.

This sees the Australian join the likes of Domantas Sabonis and Zach LaVine on a side that finished second-to-last in the Western Conference and the fifth-worst record in the competition last season.

The NBA season starts on October 21 (AEST) with the Boston Celtics playing the Detroit Pistons.
