Accor or Allianz? Souths CEO weighs in on home final preference

With the Rabbitohs set to play a home elimination final, club CEO Blake Solly has declared they would be happy to play at either of their two home venues.

Following their 50-20 win against an undermanned Roosters side on Friday night, South Sydney finished sixth on the ladder, seeing them make finals for the first time since 2022.

This now sees the NRL faced with the choice of hosting the match at either Accor Stadium, which is the primary home for the Bunnies, having played seven home matches there or Allianz Stadium, which Souths have pushed to play more games at in recent years, resulting in four home games next season and five matches per year from 2028 to 2030.  

Speaking on where they would hold the do-or-die clash, the former Super League General Manager was happy to leave the decision to the NRL.

“We're happy to play at Accor or Allianz (Stadium),” Solly told SEN’s Kick Off.

“The final decision rests with the NRL. We've been really supportive of the NRL taking a bit more control over week one of the final series and mandating where the games go for the benefit of the whole of the game.

“So for us, we're happy to play at Accor and we're happy to play at Moore Park.

When asked what his preference would be, Solly maintained a straight bat response.

“Oh, we don't have one,” he added.

“They're both our homes now.  So, for us it's up to Peter and the NRL.

“We'll play wherever Peter and the NRL think it's best for us to play.”

Souths will play the Newcastle Knights in the second elimination final, with dates, times and venues set to be confirmed following the conclusion of the Tigers vs Panthers clash on Sunday night.
