“It’s harmless”: Glenn speaks after being accused of ‘rank cheating’

Brisbane Broncos’ former captain and ground announcer Alex Glenn has defended his actions during the club’s loss against the Melbourne Storm, which caused the visitors to complain to the NRL, believing that it was harmless.

In the club’s final home game during Round 26, the Storm reported several instances of the ground announcer starting chants whilst their players were attempting to catch high balls, resulting in the NRL reminding all clubs that this was not allowed.

Glenn’s actions would receive wide condemnation across the sporting world with SEN’s Gerard Whateley calling it ‘rank cheating’.

But speaking on SEN’s Saturday League Kick-Off, the former second rower believed his actions were harmless, declaring that he did similar things throughout the season.

“Oh mate, it's been the news of the week,” Glenn said.

“It must be pretty boring in Brisbane here if they're scraping the barrel to find that out, but you know me, we win at all costs.

“It's harmless, it's harmless, I've been doing it all year, and it just so happened to be our last home game.

“Melbourne wanted to file a complaint, and it is what it is.

"I was just having a bit of fun, and like I said, I've been doing it all year to every opposition.”

The Broncos concluded their season last Thursday on a high with a win over the Bulldogs at Accor Stadium.
