Butters makes long awaited call on playing future

Zak Butters has reportedly nominated his preferred destination for his playing future.

According to AFL.com.au’s Cal Twomey, the Western Bulldogs have won the race for his signature.

This will see the four-time Port Adelaide best and fairest join Marcus Bontempelli at the Kennel on a reported deal worth $1.8-2 million per season, as per SEN’s Sam Edmund.

The 26-year-old has earned plenty of interest from Geelong and Richmond as all three clubs chased his services.

In his 17 games this season, Butters averaged 29.8 disposals, 6.1 clearances and 5.7 inside 50s.

With Butters being a restricted free agent, the Power have the right to match any offer the Bulldogs make, which will force the club to make a trade for him.
