AI Analysis: Predicted winners, value & roughies at Caulfield & Randwick

Race 1 – The Taggart (Bm74) - 1800m

Winner: Emperor Tzu (3)

In strong form and Jabez Johnstone’s 2kg claim helps enormously. Two wins from three starts at the trip and the Ciaron Maher yard is flying. Looks the one to beat again and we get a nice price to find out.

Best value/place: Cavalry (14)

Ben Melham on board is a big plus. Consistent gelding who has run inside the trifecta on six of eight career starts, winning twice. Can figure at each-way odds.

Best roughie: Enviable (8)

Out to 1800m for the first time but that might suit after a hard run here last start out. Damian Lane takes the ride and can run a big race.

Race 2 – HKJC World Pool Classics Preview - 1800m

Winner: Icy You (3)

Inside draw so can be handy. Is a progressive type who maps well. Looks the one to beat after a near five-length win at Echuca last start.

Best value/place: Quick Finish (9)

Jye McNeil sticks and he presents as an excellent each-way chance.

Best roughie: Frank Whisper (2)

Can go on after winning over 1700m at Geelong last time. Not quite a roughie but a good value option.

Race 3 – Peninsula Kubota Handicap (BM100) - 1100m

Winner: Winnasedge (2)

Two wins and two places from last four starts. Consistent galloper who is proven at this level.

Best value/place: Behaviour (11)

Outstanding win at Sandown last start. Gets in with a light weight and is a consistent sprinter. Strong place chance.

Best roughie: Don’t Hope Do (7)

Can surprise if Jamie Mott can control the race from the front.

Race 4 – Thousand Guineas Prelude (G2) - 1400m

Winner: Portinari (6)

Classy filly who was decent behind Pretty Baby last start. Blake Shinn sticks. Looks the standout.

Best value/place: Profligate (5)

Jordan Childs and Grahame Begg combination. Finished just behind Portinari last time out. Excellent each-way chance.

Best roughie: Tolaga Bay (8)

Undefeated in two starts and can run well in a very open race.

Race 5 – Caulfield Guineas Prelude (G3) - 1400m

Winner: Blind Raise (9)

Easy first-up win over 1300m at Sandown. Blake Shinn aboard again. Hard to beat.

Best value/place: Wolf Gap (5)

Progressive colt who ran second to Blind Raise last start. Strong quinella chance.

Best roughie: Nil

Race 6 - How Now Stakes (G3) - 1200m

Winner: Bridal Waltz (10)

Clear favourite who looks the class horse. Ben Melham has not missed the quinella in five starts on the mare.

Best value/place: Point Barrow (3)

Mark Zahra aboard and drops from Group 1 level. Excellent each-way.

Best roughie: Inkaruna (2)

Can improve after running fourth in the same race in which Bridal Waltz ran second to Oliveanotherday last time out.

Race 7 – Underwood Stakes (G1) - 1800m

Winner: Cosmic Crusader (5)

Strong lead-up form and drawn much better this time. William Pike sticks. Looks the one to beat at Group 1 level.

Best value/place: Buckaroo (2)

Has won and run second in this race the last two years. Good second-up form and generally runs well at Caulfield.

Best roughie: Kingswood (8)

Group 1 winner in NZ who saluted first-up at big odds. Can sneak a place.

Race 8 – Naturalism Stakes (G3) - 2000m

Winner: Zahrann (14)

Progressive import who has run well in three Aussie starts. Looks well placed and nicely weighted.

Best value/place: Saint George (3)

Mark Zahra stays on top and is chasing three straight wins. Poorly drawn but is in rich form. Excellent each-way option.

Best roughie: Darkbonee (20)

Failed last time out but can hit back at nice odds.

Race 9 – Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (G1) - 1400m

Winner: Lady Shenandoah (6)

Class mare with Craig Williams aboard. Has been knocking on the door and races well second-up. Soft barrier could be advantageous.

Best value/place: Regal Award (13)

Light weight and has talent. Can figure at each-way odds.

Best roughie: Warnie (7)

Won nicely at Sandown last start. Hasn’t yet won at Caulfield but has run well. Good value.

Race 10 – Ive > Handicap (Bm84) - 1400m

Winner: Cruiserweight (17)

Clear favourite who was bloused by Ivan’s Hero last time. Can hit back here.

Best value/place: Stealth Of Night (11)

Consistent galloper who was unlucky not to win second-up. Wide draw so have to push on to lead, but can run in the top three.

Best roughie: Fiorenot (9)

Races better over longer but can make presence felt first-up.

Randwick

Race 1 – TAB Highway Handicap (C3) - 1000m

Winner: Oh Arthur (1)

Two on the trot and can control it from barrier 4.

Best value/place: Impendor (3)

Has Nash Rawiller on board and maps well. Strong first-up record.

Best roughie: Martini Mumma (7)

Can improve at nice odds. Great place hope.

Race 2 – Midway (BM72) - 1600m

Winner: All Star (11)

Taking on the short favourite (Barrengarry) with a horse who has won three of his past five. Very nice odds.

Best value/place: Dusty Bay (6)

Consistent galloper who is generally around the mark.

Best roughie: Just In Time (5)

Nash Rawiller jumps on and can improve at big odds.

Race 3 – The Agency Real Estate (BM88) - 1600m

Winner: Watson (7)

Has been thereabouts and can step up here. D-Day is approaching though.

Best value/place: Cold Brew (4)

In the quinella in nine of 12 career starts, winning four. Presents great value.

Best roughie: Franz Josef (6)

Kerrin McEvoy sticks, fitter and at solid each-way odds.

Race 4 – Toyota Forklifts (BM78) - 1400m

Winner: Castlejohn (4)

Back-to-back wins this prep and can make it three in a row. Nash Rawiller on board. Wide draw is the only query.

Best value/place: Night Agent (17)

James McDonald sticks and should improve second-up out to a more suitable trip.

Best roughie: Phantom Major (18)

Top three in three career runs so far. Can run well at big odds.

Race 5 – Bill Ritchie Handicap (G3) - 1400m

Winner: Althoff (8)

Taking on the favourite (Headley Grange) with Althoff who has returned in fine form this preparation. Good value.

Best value/place: Mr Miller (15)

Progressive winning machine who has saluted in three of five career starts to date.

Best roughie: Linebacker (4)

Linebacker is capable if he’s on his game. Offers good value.

Race 6 – Kingston Town Stakes (G2) - 2000m

Winner: The Euphrates (11)

Maps well for Tim Clark. Should improve from a nice fourth behind Lindermann and Ceolwulf last time. Rise to 2000m suits.

Best value/place: Starzintheireyes (15)

Unlucky last start and looks set to improve at the trip. Wide draw some query.

Best roughie: Juja Kibo (12)

Consistent galloper who can make presence felt for Ciaron Maher at double figure odds.

Race 7 – Tea Rose Stakes (G2) - 1400m

Winner: Striking Alibi (3)

Close up behind Bangkok Hottie and Chilly Girl last time. Primed to turn the tables for James McDonald and Chris Waller. Dangerous combo.

Best value/place: Bangkok Hottie (1)

Impressive in winning last start. Capable of going on with it.

Best roughie:  Sequinned (8)

Taking a massive step up but is a winner and can figure at massive odds.

Race 8 – Seven Sunrise Stakes (G2) - 1600m

Hard to go past this winning machine. Should get the job done again for James McDonald.

Best value/place: Gringotts (2)

If there was to be an upset it could possibly be Gringotts. Probably best suited as the exacta horse.

Best roughie: Aeliana (5)

Aeliana is the longer-priced each-way chance, but needs to improve.

Race 9 – Yarraman Park Shorts (G2) - 1100m

Winner: Joliestar (2)

Star sprinting mare who owns a stunning first-up record (7:5-1-1). Capable over this distance and can win if James McDonald can navigate the wide barrier.

Best value/place: Ninja (1)

Won impressively first-up and is two from two second-up. Big danger.

Best roughie: Spicy Martini (6)

Consistent galloper who was excellent in Queensland last preparation. Tougher field here but has won first-up on three occasions.

Race 10 – Nick Moraitis Trophy (BM88) - 1100m

Winner: Golden Straand (2)

Races well fresh, has a soft gate and gets Nash Rawiller back on top. Winning hope.

Best value/place: Hawker Hall (1)

Is capable of getting the job done under James McDonald. Carrying 61kg but has the ability.

Best roughie: She’s An Artist (13)

She’s An Artist is the value play after running well at Rosehill last time out.
